Day 1:pm
Kangos
After your flight to Kiruna or Luleå airport, you will be greeted by your hosts Johan or Sara. They will transfer you along the road to Kangos; a small village situated 150 km north of the Arctic Circle and set in the northern Torne river valley. After arrival to Kangos you will meet the huskies and get a chance to learn more about these remarkable animals. We enjoy a hot cup of coffee by the bonfire and then it’s time for a short introduction into the practical side of "mushing". We prepare our sleds ready for the next coming morning when our adventure trip starts. The first night will be spent in a beautiful guesthouse in Kangos village here you will take a warm sauna before enjoying a good dinner made with specialties from the north.
Day 2:
Kangos-Lainio
After a good night sleep we start the day by packing the sleds and harnessing the dogs.
After another short instruction we head out into the wilderness.
The only sounds that can be heard are the breathing of the dogs and the noise of their feet on the snow. We stop after 2-3 hours and enjoy lunch out in the wild. After a while the dogs are eager to run again, and we keep on mushing for a further 2-3 hours. The day ends with a nice home cooked meal and a restful evening before settling down to sleep in the village of Lainio.
Day 3:
Lanino-Soppero
After one day mushing you will all feel that you have got the hang of it, you can relax a little and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We move along frozen rivers, deep forests and on shimmering white mires. We stop after a while to warm up our bodies with a nice hot soup, made over the open fire. The last part of the trail is in a winter feeding area of the reindeer, the dogs are so used to the animals so they don’t care. On many occasions we pass just a few meters from them. This day is a long day of mushing and when we are hungry its time for lunch but our goal this day is to reach a Sami family home, here we spend the night and for dinner we will try local specialties from the Sami menu.
Day 4:
Soppero-Jukkasjärvi / Ice hotel
After taking care of the dogs and eating breakfast we will begin our journey towards our main goal the magnificent Icehotel.
We have a stop for lunch along the way, warming up beside a bonfire. The anticipation of reaching the ice hotel is now getting stronger. The long and memorable trip of husky mushing is now over; we unpack the sleds and relax little then its time for a nice warming sauna followed by a super dinner in Jukkasjärvi.
Tonight you will experience something entirely different; an overnight stay in the world famous Ice Hotel, sleeping on reindeer skins under a roof made of ice, hopefully with the northern lights dancing on the sky.
Day 5
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your return flights
