The ideal Lapland trip for those of you who prefer to be spontaneous, adapting to wind, weather, your own mood of the day whilst being in control of your own budget. Your accommodation will be a simple yet warm and functional self-catering apartment in the Villa Björknäs, here you can take care of yourselves. The Villa is close to the cottages at the local Camping-complex, which is situated beside the town’s central lake and just a short walk from the local shops, amenities and the town centre. The local snowmobile and ski tracks are close by.
Day 1: Thursday
Departure can be from various UK airports for your flights to Lulea via Stockholm
Arlanda. Please contact us for information regarding the best flight options, we will be happy to help. Guests will be greeted at the Luleå Airport before making the road transfer to Boden, a journey of around 35 minutes. On arrival at your accommodation our guide will give you a short briefing and will also provide you with the extreme weather clothing; a thermal suit, hat, boots and mitts. Depending on your time of arrival, you can then enjoy a light evening meal, snack or a welcoming drink. Breakfast for your first day will be found in the fridge. After settling in, there may even be time for you to explore part of the town prior to going off to bed.
Day 2 and 3: Friday & Saturday
You can find much to do in and around Boden, the choice is yours; listed below are a few which may be of interest to you. Go jogging, walking, make angels in the snow, take a walk to the excellent Defence Museum or visit an Art Exhibition at the old Oat Magazine, inspect our Viking-Style (heritage listed) train-station and count the wagons on the Iron Ore shuttle, take a swim under the naked stars on the penthouse pool at the fantastic Nordpoolen Water-Park (one of Sweden’s best), take a look at the in-glazed Historic Locomotive which is near-by, visit our main Church from 1831 with the adjacent Church-Town (foundation of our town), pay a visit to our own Nobel-laureate’s, Eyvind Johnson (1974), birth home-stead. Inspect the canons at Salute Station. Here we celebrate our Royal Birthdays and other national events. If you like Opera there are live-broadcasts from the Metropolitan (N.Y. USA) and other major opera houses around the world which are shown at the Saga Cinema a couple of times each month. Please ask your host for further details and information.
Should you wish to hire any equipment during your stay such as a kick-sled, snowshoes, skates, x-country skis or ice-fishing gear or other specific items please ask your hosts, they will be happy to arrange this for you at reasonable prices.
To arrange more active pursuits such as Snowmobile Safari’s, Dog Sleigh, Wild Life Safari’s or any other guided trip please speak to your host and arrange these at least one day prior to the activity.
Day 4. Sunday.
Our guide will come and pick you up, on the settled time, to take you to the airport in time for your return flights.
